2026年初中必刷题九年级英语下册人教版第9页答案
Ⅲ. 阅读表达
[2025 湖南长沙期末]People sometimes think "What if something goes wrong?" It's normal to have these "what-if" thoughts. We need to understand these thoughts and deal with them, so that we will be less worried.
Worrying about the future is a common thing in life. Sometimes, people will think about what will happen if things don't go as they want. For example, "What if I make a mistake?" or "What if people laugh at me?" These "what-if" thoughts are all about bad results. When we spend a lot of time thinking about bad things that might happen, we are imagining the future as a disaster. Thinking too much about "what-if" makes us feel anxious and worried. For example, we may feel sad and it's hard to focus on what we are doing.
There are different ways to help ourselves. Angela McMillan suggests making an "if/then" plan. She says, "For example, if you have to speak in front of the class, then you can take a few deep breaths and tell yourself that you are ready and it's okay. Or if a social event is too noisy and you feel uncomfortable, then you can go outside for a few minutes." We can also ask ourselves how possible it is for something to really happen.
Angela McMillan points out that most of our worries don't actually happen. She says, "Remember, these are just thoughts. The bravest thing we can do is not to let worry control us." We should try to pay attention to what we are doing.
Being angry with ourselves will make us feel worse. So we should be nice to ourselves.
