There is a parrot in a pet store. It is a beautiful bird. One day a man goes into the store. "That's a beautiful bird," he says to the pet store owner, "but why is it so expensive?"
"It's expensive because it can talk," the pet store owner says.
"I see. How can I make it talk?" the man asks.
The pet store owner asks him, "Do you see those strings(绳) on the bird's legs?"
"Yes," the man answers.
"Well, you pull those strings," the pet store owner tells him. "That will make the parrot talk."
The man asks, "Can I have a try?"
"Of course," the pet store owner says.
The man walks up and pulls the string on its left leg. The parrot says, "Good morning."
The man pulls the string on the parrot's right leg. This time the parrot says, "How are you today?"
"That's not very interesting," says the man. "Any parrot can do that." Then he laughs, "But what will happen if I pull both strings at the same time?"
