Dongting Lake? It's famous as "a very large lake". Dongting Lake is in the north of Hunan Province. It is about 2,625 square kilometres in size. It is one of the five largest freshwater lakes in China. Every year, thousands of tourists from all over the world come to Yueyang to enjoy the beautiful views around Dongting Lake.
With the development of our society, protecting Dongting Lake has become an important topic. In fact, people of Yueyang are trying to make the environment of the lake better. On the one hand, they started East Dongting Lake Nature Reserve in 1982. It gives a good home to birds and special animals. If you go there, you can see birds flying and special deer eating grass. On the other hand, factories must not pour dirty water into the lake. Fish live happily in the clean water. At the same time, they plant colourful flowers and green trees along Dongting Lake. It is wonderful for people to visit it when flowers bloom and leaves turn green.
