may make us feel strange because we are in the
habit of chatting, or of all the sounds and noises
around us. Learning to enjoy silence is a great way to get calm,
creative, and curious in quiet moments.

Lots of research shows silence is good for your health. *It gives your
mind a break from too much information that makes you tired. "It's a rest
that helps us feel more like ourselves again," says teacher Rakhee Jasani.
Studies show that silence can improve sleep, lower stress levels, and give your brain space to solve
problems. Silence can help you to think clearly and be more creative.
We often listen to teachers, parents, and friends, as well as TV and games. "Silence gives our minds
and hearts space to breathe," Jasani says. "When we're not always listening to the outside, we can hear
what's going on inside-what we're feeling and thinking."
Jasani says silent pauses help you feel calm and create space. "Pauses are really powerful.
Have you ever read a sentence and then stopped for a moment just to feel it? Or been with a friend and
gone quiet but it still felt nice? That's the magic of a pause-it helps things settle inside and makes
space for something new."
