year-old doctor Nasheng works hard to help
more than 5,400 villagers in Yangla. It is a

small town, which is more than 3,000 meters
above level, in the mountains of Yunnan.
Nasheng studied Tibetan medicine at Qinghai University.
She was interested in learning for two reasons. One was
her love for traditional ways to people when she was a kid. *The

other was the difficulty her fellow villagers had in getting medical help.
“I found it was really for my family to see doctors in inland
places,” she said. “They had to travel far. They had difficulty in speaking
Chinese. And there were differences.” Many elderly villagers only speak Tibetan.
She working at Yangla's health center in September 2021. The town is very far from her
hometown. It 7 to 8 hours to drive there. She lives in a small room in the health center. “There's
only one small restaurant here. No other places for fun,” she said. “But I've thought of giving
up.”
Working at the health center teaches her a lot. She still remembers her first . It was an old man
with very bad joint (关节) problems. With her teacher's , she gave him her first joint injection (注
射).
“That moment made me know: I need to learn more to truly help people,” she said.
