The Boy Who Cried Wolf
Once, a bored shepherd boy watched sheep on a hill. To have fun, he shouted, “Wolf! Wolf! Help!”
Villagers ran up the hill, tools in hand. But there was no wolf. The boy laughed, “Just joking!”
Two days later, he yelled again, “Wolf! A big wolf!” The villagers came panting. Again, no wolf. “Can’t you take a joke?” the boy giggled.
On the third day, a real wolf came. Its yellow eyes glowed. “WOLF! PLEASE!” the boy screamed.
No one came. The villagers thought, “He’s tricking us again.” The wolf ate many sheep.
That night, the boy cried bitterly. As an old farmer put it: “Lies make people stop trusting you.”
