Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival. Shu goes to see Grandma and Grandpa with Mum and Ying, her little brother. They take the train to her grandparents’ home with a box of moon cakes.
The train is full. Shu puts the box under her seat. It is a long journey. Ying goes to sleep, but Shu looks at the fields and mountains outside the train window.
Grandpa waits at the station and he gives everyone a big hug. Then he asks about the moon cakes. “Oh no! The moon cakes!” Shu says, “I leave them on the train!” They run back. But it’s too late. The train has gone.
Grandma is happy to see Mum, Shu and Ying, but she is not so happy about the moon cakes. Shu wishes to get them back.
Soon the house is full of relatives(亲戚). Dinner is ready. But where are Shu and Grandpa? “Don’t worry! They will be back soon,” says Grandma.
All the people wait for Shu and Grandpa. They watch the round and bright moon. “How lovely the moon is!” says Grandma.
“Yes,” Grandpa says, “but not as lovely as these moon cakes.”
“Moon cakes?” asks Grandma.
“Yes, moon cakes,” Shu says. “The train station calls us. They find the box!”
All the people laugh. Shu opens the box and treats them to the moon cakes. They enjoy the delicious dishes and moon cakes together. Their laughter fills the whole house.
