There was a big rose tree just inside the garden. The roses were white but three gardeners were painting them red. The gardeners were flat and rectangular. They looked like playing cards. They had spades黑桃 on them.
Alice felt very curious and went closer. She asked them why they were painting those roses red. "Well, Miss, we made a mistake," one of the gardeners said. "We put a white rose tree here and the Queen wanted a red one." Just at that moment, Alice and the gardeners saw the King and the Queen coming towards them.
When the Queen saw Alice, she stopped and asked her name. Alice answered politely. Then the Queen asked who the three gardeners were. Alice told her that she didn't know and that she wasn't interested. The Queen then knew Alice's answer. Her face turned red with anger. She was ready to kill Alice. Alice said loudly, "Nonsense胡说!" The Queen was very surprised. She didn't know what to say. "Don't be angry, dear!" the King said. "She's only a child." The Queen looked at the gardeners again.
