While reading an art magazine, I learned about Su Hanchen. He was a painter and was good at drawing children. One of his best-known paintings is Children Playing in an Autumn Garden（《秋庭戏婴图》）. The boy and the girl in the painting were in high spirits in their new game: spinning dates（陀螺游戏）. A few hundred years passed, but I could still hear them laughing.
Looking at the two kids, I thought of my own childhood（童年）. That was about thirty years ago. Computers and smartphones didn’t come into people’s lives. We just had a lot of fun playing outdoors. Girls loved to skip rubber bands（跳橡皮筋）. We boys were excited about some toy cars. We raced against each other to see whose car ran the fastest. Often, we enjoyed ourselves so much that we wouldn’t stop!
How do you usually play? Would you like some more playtime away from screens? If so, why not ask your parents to teach you some of their childhood games? Or, maybe you’d like to try out the game of spinning dates. Look it up on a video online to find out how to make the toy. When you finish it, learn from the videos and play it with your friends. Take turns pushing the top stick gently to see who can make it spin（旋转）for the longest time without losing its balance. It’s a game but you’ll have lots of fun!
