Chinese and Western poets write about ambition(抱负)from different angles(角度). Let's read two poems from them.
Wang Zhihuan wrote the poem in the best years of the Tang dynasty(618—907). He once held a quite good job, but then lost it. Instead of giving up, Wang chose to stay positive(积极的)about the future, so he decided to climb higher. This was his way of getting closer to his dreams—to see more and get more.
Emily Dickinson's poem shows a different feeling from Wang's. Wang is positive about reaching his dreams, while Dickinson's poem asks everyone to do their best. People often don't know what they can truly do until they face a real challenge(挑战). If they don't let fears(恐惧)hold them back, they can do things well. She believes that all of us can get amazing success.
