One summer day, Cao Cao went to fight a battle(战役) with his soldiers(士兵). The road was long and the sun was too hot. The soldiers were tired and thirsty. So they walked slower and slower. Even some soldiers fell to the ground. Cao Cao sent some soldiers to look for water. But they all went back without any water. The soldiers all said that they couldn't stand(忍受) the thirst any longer. Cao Cao saw this and worried about losing the coming battle.
Then Cao Cao had an idea. He rode up to the front of the line(队伍). He pointed(指) with his whip and said, “There is a big plum(梅子) forest ahead. We can have a rest there. The plums are sweet and sour(酸的). You can eat as much as you want.”
Hearing this, the soldiers' mouths watered. They forgot their tiredness and thirst and walked fast.
After some time, the soldiers finally found water. They had a good drink. And they were full of energy.
