At 9:40 pm yesterday，I was sitting in my chair when I heard a strange sound. It made me scared. This was the third time I heard the sound. I did not know who or what made that sound. It sounded like someone was knocking at my window，but I lived on the ninth floor!
I was too scared to open my eyes until the sound stopped. I thought about asking for help，but I was sure people would laugh at me. “There are no such things as ghosts(鬼)，”they'd say. “There it is again，”I shouted. My mum came upstairs and asked me what I was going on. Then she heard the strange sound too. She went into the bathroom. I wanted to stop my mum because I was afraid that something bad would happen to her. But she started laughing. “It's OK，dear. It's just a strong wind making the curtain(窗帘) shake and knock the window.”
I was very surprised. Since then I've started thinking more scientifically. There are no ghosts. I don't need to be afraid. If such things happen again，I will do like what my mum did and find out the truth.
