Have you ever thought that the gold ring on your finger might be older than the dinosaurs? In fact, all the gold on Earth has a very long and amazing journey.
Scientists believe gold was created when neutron(中子) stars crashed into each other. This produced gold, which spread through space as dust. The early Earth was hit by many rocks from space carrying this dust. This is how gold first arrived on our planet. So, your gold is truly a gift from the universe!
But the gold didn't stay on the surface. As Earth cooled, most of it went deep down inside Earth. For millions of years, it lay there. Later, magma(岩浆) moved underground, carrying the gold up through cracks. When the magma cooled, the gold formed thin lines in the mountains. We call these gold lines “veins(矿脉)”.
These gold veins stayed hidden for millions of years. Then, humans learned to find them. Modern geologists use special tools to find these treasures. After years of hard work, they might finally discover a place with lots of gold.
Once the gold is found, it is made into the shiny metal we love. So, why do we love gold so much? First, it is very useful. Because it can carry electricity well, it's used in phones and computers.
