Our solar system was formed about 4.5 billion years ago! But what exactly is the solar system? It is made up of our sun and eight main planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. There are also moons, dwarf planets, asteroids, comets, rocks and dust.
Planets
All of the planets in the solar system travel around the sun. Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars are called “terrestrial planets(类地行星)”. They are mostly made of rock and metal. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are called “gas giants(气体巨星)”. They are mostly made of gas and they have rings. The smallest planet is Mercury and the biggest is Jupiter. Neptune is the coldest planet and Venus is the hottest.
Moons
Moons travel around planets. Earth has got just one moon, but there are at least 150 moons in our solar system. Jupiter and Saturn are the planets with over 350 confirmed moons! Mercury and Venus have no moons at all.
Stars
Stars are huge balls of very hot gas. Our closest star is the sun, and it's 150 million kms away from the planet Earth! Without the sun's energy, there would be no life on Earth.

解析

1. 第1题:先阅读第一段,发现作者先介绍太阳系形成时间,随后用问句“But what exactly is the solar system?”
1. 第1题:第一段先说明太阳系形成时间,再以问句“But what exactly is the solar system?”
2. 第2题:根据原文“Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars are called ‘terrestrial planets(类地行星)’. They are mostly made of rock and metal.”,火星为类地行星,主要由岩石和金属构成,故选A。
3. 第3题:根据原文“The smallest planet is Mercury and the biggest is Jupiter.”,气体巨星包含木星,因此最大的气体巨星是木星,故选B。
5. 第5题:A项水星、金星无卫星,错误;B项地球有1个卫星,错误;C项与原文“Jupiter and Saturn are the planets with over 350 confirmed moons”一致,正确;D项太阳系至少有150个卫星,错误,故选C。
