2026年优翼学练优九年级英语上册人教版武汉专版第120页答案
Ⅱ. 阅读理解。
For the past 18 years, Reckoning Theatre in Beijing has been narrating movies—describing the scenes(场景) with accurate language while the movies are playing.
That's because its audience members are all blind people. Xiao Huanyi is one of the theatre's regular moviegoers. Xiao was born blind. "I wasn't interested in movies at first," he said. "I used to listen to stories on the radio. Reckoning Theatre is different. It describes the scenes. That is precious."
When it comes to serving the needs of blind people, spaces like Reckoning Theatre are not often to be found. By 2021, there were more than 17 million blind or partially blind people in China. There have long been calls to improve their physical and emotional well-being(身心健康).
Reckoning Theatre was set up by Wang Weili and his wife in 2005. Wang still remembers watching the Hollywood movie The Terminator (《终结者》) with a blind friend in 2004. He described every scene to his friend in detail. The friend enjoyed his assistance. This experience led Wang to set up his theatre with his own personal savings.
"They have the right to know everything that we know," Wang said. "The government has provided special schools and sidewalks to meet their basic living needs. But life isn't made up of just these basic needs."
According to Wang, it is not easy to narrate a movie. As a narrator himself, he said preparations for the screening of a two-and-a-half-hour movie could take as long as two weeks. He has to watch a movie many times to get familiar with the story and its characters. In his narration, Wang focuses on what appears in the movie, instead of what happens.
With the help of a few volunteers, in recent years, Wang has also organized various outdoor activities for blind people. "The world is made up of many interesting things. I want to keep working to narrow the gap between us," he said.
