Ⅰ.短文阅读
Lexi is just a little girl from Canada who found herself in a heart-stopping situation. It started off as a normal car trip. Angela Shymanski, Lexi's mom, was driving on the challenging roads of the Rockies with her daughter Lexi and her baby Peter in the car. An unexpected animal ran into the road. Angela swerved(突然转向) to avoid the animal. Unfortunately, their car was off the road, falling down a steep embankment(路堤).
The crash was very terrifying(可怕的). Angela ended up with a broken back. She was unconscious, and unable to help her babies. Meanwhile, baby Peter's cries filled the chaos. But Lexi, only five years old, didn't freeze. Instead, she showed courage that would amaze many grown-ups.
She quickly took action. The little girl, without even shoes on her feet, managed to free herself from her seatbelt and climbed the 40-foot embankment. Once she reached the top, Lexi did everything she could to wave down a passing car in order to get help for her mom and brother.
Lexi's efforts finally paid off. A car stopped, and the people inside help her call for emergency services at once. When the paramedics(护理人员) arrived, they found Angela in a terrible situation, and her heart had stopped. Thankfully, they managed to bring her back.
Lexi's dad, reflecting on the incident, couldn't help but be amazed by his daughter's bravery. He stressed how important it is for kids to be prepared for emergencies, shocked at how Lexi remembered and acted on what she had been taught. It strongly reminds us of what kids can do when they are in dangerous situation.
And Lexi's heroic action didn't go unnoticed. She was awarded a Bronze Medal for Bravery by the police. But for the Shymanskis, the real prize was being back in each other's arms, safe and sound.

Ⅱ.阅读还原
Children's life has changed a lot in the past few years. But do they have a happier childhood than we did?
5.
A
I have four brothers and sisters, and my memories are all about being
with them. We used to play board games in the living room, spend days in the street with other children, race up and down on our bikes, or explore the nearby woods. My parents seldom showed up in these memories. They only appeared during meals.
These days, at least in the UK, the nature of childhood has changed. Firstly, families are smaller. A family usually just has one child. Also, it is common for both parents to work outside. 6.
B
Another change is that children spend most of their free time at home, inside. Parents worry too much about some possible dangers, so they don't want their children to play outside by themselves.
7.
E
Computer and video games have taken the place of the board games and other interesting activities of my childhood. The funny thing is that so many ways of playing games are called "interactive". The fact that you can play electronic games by yourself increases the feeling of loneliness.
8.
D
I can't give an answer for sure, but perhaps every generation feels exactly the same.
A. I usually look back on my own childhood.
B. As a result, children spend much of their time alone.
C. Most of the children help their parents do the housework every day.
D. Do these changmean that children today have a less relaxing childhood than I did?
E. Finally, the kinds of toys children have and the ways they play are completely different.

答案

5. A 6. B 7. E 8. D
