D
When Devon's sister, Lil, went off to college, Devon's stomach felt twisty. Siroj, a student from India, stayed in their house, right in Lil's room. That made Devon's stomach feel worse. He missed his sister so much.
Siroj was in the kitchen a lot. His cooking filled the air with steam and spice(香料). It made Devon's eyes water.
One day, Mum worked late and Devon had to stay with Siroj. When Devon got home from school, Siroj asked, "Would you like a snack?"
"No, thanks." Devon and Lil used to cook together after school. They called it "making messes".
Siroj smiled. He pulled out a round, thin cracker(薄脆饼干), poured oil into a pan and fried(油炸) the cracker. A peppery smell was around.
Siroj handed Devon a plate. "Papadum," he said, "an Indian snack."
Devon took a bite. "Not bad," he said. It was actually really good.
"Usually we eat these with sauces(调味汁)," said Siroj.
"Like tomato sauce?" Devon said. "Lil and I put sauce and cheese on English muffins to make mini pizzas. I wonder how these would taste with ..." He stopped, suddenly embarrassed(尴尬的). This was Siroj's special food from home.
But Siroj said, "Why not?"
Siroj fried up more papadums and Devon added sauce and cheese. They ate and talked until Mum called and asked, "Shall I pick up food?"
"No," said Devon, "Siroj and I were making messes. We are full now."

解析

27. 答案:B
根据原文第一段“When Devon's sister, Lil, went off to college, Devon's stomach felt twisty. Siroj, a student from India, stayed in their house, right in Lil's room. That made Devon's stomach feel worse.”及第二段“Siroj was in the kitchen a lot. His cooking filled the air with steam and spice(香料). It made Devon's eyes water.”
28. 答案:C
根据原文第四段“Devon and Lil used to cook together after school. They called it 'making messes'.”,结合前文Devon非常想念姐姐的情绪,可知他拒绝Siroj的邀请是因为触景生情,想念和姐姐一起做饭的时光,并非A“小吃难吃”、B“不饿”、D“晚饭太晚”的原因,故C正确。
29. 答案:A
27. B;28. C;29. A;30. D
