Today, the popularity of walking in the field has risen around the world. But in the UK, it becomes a problem. More than 100 musicians, actors and writers wrote to the government, “In the books we write, the songs we sing, the art we make, we celebrate the important connection that we feel with nature. But that connection is stopped by the fences (围栏) that surround (围绕) much of England’s land, keeping people from walking free.”
Although in 2000, a law was passed to allow people to walk around 8% of England’s countryside, some people still say this isn’t good enough. However, others point out that there are businesses that need to keep the land private.

Nowadays it is important for people to take a walk outdoors—for their mental and physical health. It encourages people and brings them pleasure and relaxation.
Yet this space is not enough and is now surrounded by fences. To get closer to nature, most people have to travel for miles. Everyone should be able to get close to nature easily. Blue sky, flying birds and green tree-lined paths should not belong to any private organization or person. But the truth is that such a small number of people own such huge amounts of land. Among every eight British houses, one has no gardens. This isn’t fair.
