High school students from around the world proved that robotics isn't just about building machines—it's about working out real-world problems.
The 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition(竞赛)(FRC) in Shanghai, held at East China Normal University in March, brought together nearly 1,000 high school students from 43 teams coming from different countries and regions, including China, the United States, and Australia.
This year's theme, "Reefscape", challenged students to design robots to rebuild ocean ecosystems(生态系统). The challenges tested students' both technical skills and environmental care.
Among the competitors, two Shanghai teams stood out. Team 6941 "Iron-Pulse" from Shanghai Pinghe School won first place, while Team 6940 "Violet Z" from a local high school took third. Both teams competed in the world championship in Houston, USA.
As the world's highest-level youth robotics competition, FRC needs strong teamwork, Mei Kai, the 17-year-old captain of Iron-Pulse, explained. "Everyone has a role to play—whether it's the driver, coach, technician or programmer—and success comes from working together," he said.
Song Jinyang, coach of Violet Z, believed that this level of close cooperation among students helps to improve their ability to work out complex problems. "When a robot part doesn't work, students must find out the problems step by step, which teaches them teamwork," she added.
The competition also encouraged global friendship. Violet Z once shared their coding tips with teams from other countries. "Real progress isn't about beating (打败) others—it's learning together," said Iron-Pulse's coach Jin Shifei. "If your competitor is missing a part and you happen to have it, would you lend it to them? Of course, the answer is yes—that's the true success of education," he added.
Through teamwork and kindness, these young students proved technology can protect our oceans and bring the world closer.
1. What is the theme of the 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition(FRC)?

2. What does the underlined word "cooperation" mean in Paragraph 6?
A. Teamwork.
B. Competition.
C. Agreement.

3. What can be inferred from Jin Shifei's words about lending parts to competitors?
A. Sharing is against the competition rules.
B. Competition success is all about winning.
C. True educational success lies in teamwork instead of competition.
D. Teams should focus on their own needs rather than helping others.
4. Which can be the best title of the passage? >>
A. A Student-Led Robot Business for Ocean Protection

根据第三段“This year's theme, ‘Reefscape’, challenged students to design robots to rebuild ocean ecosystems.”
根据下文“When a robot part doesn't work, students must find out the problems step by step, which teaches them teamwork”可知机器人部件不起作用时,学生必须一步步找出问题,教会了他们团队合作,竞赛中学生之间的密切合作有助于提高他们解决复杂问题的能力,此处“cooperation”表示“合作”,与 teamwork 意思相近。故选 A。
根据第七段“Real progress isn't about beating others—it's learning together”和“If your competitor is missing a part and you happen to have it, would you lend it to them? Of course, the answer is yes—that's the true success of education”可知真正的进步不是打败他人,而是一起学习,教育的真正成功会让你借给竞争对手零件,由此可知真正的教育成功在于团队合作,而不是竞争。故选 C。
结合文章内容,尤其是最后一段“Through teamwork and kindness, these young students proved technology can protect our oceans and bring the world closer.”

1. 细节理解题:根据原文第三段“This year's theme, "Reefscape", challenged students to design robots to rebuild ocean ecosystems.”
2. 词义猜测题:根据划线词后文的解释“When a robot part doesn't work, students must find out the problems step by step, which teaches them teamwork”,可知此处提到的学生之间的密切cooperation对应的就是后文提到的团队协作,和A选项Teamwork含义一致,B竞争、C同意、D探索均不符合上下文语境。
3. 推理判断题:根据第七段Jin Shifei的发言“Real progress isn't about beating others—it's learning together”以及“that's the true success of education”,可知他认为教育的真正成功是共同学习、互助协作,而非单纯打败对手,A选项分享违反规则原文未提及,B选项成功就是赢和原文相悖,D选项只关注自身不帮助他人和原文观点相反,只有C选项表述符合他的核心观点。
1. D 2. A 3. C 4. C
