2026年优翼学练优九年级英语上册人教版武汉专版第30页答案
Fan Jinshi is a famous Chinese archaeologist (考古学家). She was awarded by UNESCO in 2023 for her great contribution to protecting the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang.
Known as “the daughter of Dunhuang”, her story with the caves began 60 years ago. In 1963, Fan, a 25-year-old graduate from Peking University, got the chance to work at the Mogao Caves—a place she had long wanted to explore.
“Seeing Dunhuang for the first time was amazing. But only when I really stayed here did I realize that inside the caves is a world of great beauty, while outside is a land of blowing sand and yellow earth,” Fan told Gansu Daily.
It is brave of her to work in such hard conditions. At that time, the Mogao Caves were almost cut off from the world. Fan and her workmates had to live in mud houses and drink salty water. They stayed in the caves to do research, copy murals(壁画) and try their best to protect and restore them.
It is inspiring for her to keep working hard for 40 years. After 40 years of hard work, a report on 10 Mogao Caves written by Fan's team was published in 2011. It was China's first professional report on cave archaeology. As time went by, Fan found a serious problem: more and more tourists might harm the caves and make the murals lose colour. She needed to find a way to preserve(保存) Dunhuang's cultural heritage.
In the late 1980s, Fan found computer technology by chance. It is creative of her to use this new technology to protect cultural relics. After over 30 years of hard work, the Dunhuang Academy built a digital database(数字数据库) to protect the cultural relics there. This allows Dunhuang's art to live forever and be known to people around the world.
“In my life, I have only done one thing: protecting and promoting the world cultural heritage of the Mogao Caves,” Fan told People's Daily. “My heart belongs to Dunhuang.
