二、短篇阅读
Many people believe that children learn faster than adults, and new research suggests this may be true. Scientists say the reason may be related to something in the brain called GABA. It helps new information stay in the brain after learning.
Researchers have found GABA levels increase rapidly in the brains of children of primary school age while they are learning new tasks or information. However, GABA levels in the brains of adults don't change during or after lessons in new tasks and information.
Professor Takeo said the results show that children of primary school age can learn more than adults in the same period of time. Dr Sebastian from a German university also supported the findings. He explained that GABA plays an important role in making learning more efficient.
The researchers believe these findings are useful in two ways. First, teachers and parents should give children more chances to develop new skills, such as learning maths or riding a bike. Second, the study may help adults learn better in the future through new technology or treatments.
