Yandang Mountain is known as the “No.1 Mountain in Southeast China”. The mountain is 1 (locate) in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. It stands about 1,057 metres 2 sea level. Its name comes from a dried-up lake at the top. The lake is called Yanhu Lake, or Goose Lake. In autumn, wild geese fly to the reeds (芦苇) around the lake 3 (rest) for a while before continuing their migration.
The mountain was not widely known until the Song Dynasty, 4 it was hard to hike across it. Xu Xiake, the famous Ming Dynasty explorer, once 5 (say), “Only the gods can see all the wonders of Yandang Mountain.”
Over hundreds of years, many temples have been built on the mountain. And many famous artists have left 6 (they) works there. These works include stone sculptures (雕塑), calligraphic tablets (碑) and paintings on the rocks.
The mountain is full of 7 (especial) interesting natural sights. One of the most famous is Lingfeng Peak. This area 8 (have) many strange peaks and cliffs. They look different from different sides. Take Hezhang Peak, for example. The peak looks like 9 pair of hands, a young lady in a qipao, or two people in each other’s arms.
Another well-known sight is Sanzhe Fall, or Three-Terraced Fall. The fall is divided into three 10 (level) by rock cliffs. It’s one of the most special falls on the mountain.
