Weather is a common topic in our daily conversations. And there are a lot of sayings(谚语) about the weather in English. Let's have a look at them.
When someone says they are "under the weather",it means they are feeling a bit ill or not in good health. In the past,when sailors(海员) felt sick because of bad weather at sea,they had to go below deck(甲板) to get away from the bad weather. Then we have the phrase(短语) "under the weather",which means feeling unwell(不舒服的).
Another saying is "make hay(干草) while the sun shines". Farmers need sunny weather to cut grass and turn it into hay for their animals to eat during the winter. If they don't do this,the grass may get wet from rain and go bad. Nowadays,we use this saying to encourage(鼓励) people to make good use of chances,just like farmers make hay when the sun is shining.
The third is "come rain or shine". This means something will happen whether it's rainy or sunny. Now it shows people's determination(决心) in front of difficulties. Nothing will stop them. For example,"Enjoy your day,come rain or shine."
