If your family are not sure what colour car to choose, the magical colour-changing car may be a good choice. A German car company showed its new colour-changing car at the Consumer Electronics Show held in the US.
The colour-changing paint technology mainly depends on E Ink(电子墨水). E Ink is widely used in e-readers. With E Ink, people can change the car's colour simply with the touch of a button. At first, the colours were limited to white, black and grey, but now the car can take on over thirty different colours.
We all know that a white surface reflects a lot more sunlight than a black one. On hot sunny days, more sunlight is reflected down in the cooler weather. If the car is turned into a light colour, like white, more sunlight is reflected down. If the car is turned into a darker skin, it will help take in more heat from the sun. In both cases, colour changes help cut the energy use for the air conditioner, too. Unlike the technology itself, it uses energy only to change colours. No energy is needed to keep the chosen colour staying there.
Adrian van Hooydonk, the designer director of the car, says, "The colour-changing is a great example of our forward thinking."
