Meet Dragon Boats in Ruian
① Hello, everyone! My name is Longlong. I am a cute dragon with big eyes and a long tail. My body is green, just like the green of zongzi leaves. I'm a friendly mascot(吉祥物) of the Ruian Dragon Boat Race. Let's go and watch the dragon boat race.
② In Ruian, the dragon boat race is fun at the Dragon Boat Festival. It has a long history(历史) of about 2,000 years. It is usually in May or June. There are about 600 traditional dragon boats in Ruian. They're from different villages. White, red, yellow ... and the long dragon boats are colourful. How nice!
③ Each boat in the race has two strong drummers(鼓手). They stand in the middle(中间) of the boat. They take turns beating the drum(击鼓). With the drum beating, people row the boats as fast as they can. They work hard together and have good teamwork. The boats run so fast. Look! A lot of people watch the race by the river. They hooray for their favourite teams.
④ Everyone is happy. Hear the drum go. Boom! Boom! Watch the boats go. Hooray! Hooray! Win team, win! So exciting!
