Upside-down Gardening
You can test whether a plant knows which way is up and which way is down. The test caught many children’s eyes last week.
You’ll need:
•Two large,fresh carrots •Toothpicks(牙签) •A large glass
•A small bowl •A small knife •Tweezers(镊子)
•An adult(成年人)helper
Three steps:
① Cut one carrot 2 cm from its large end. Cut the other carrot 5 cm from its large end;ask helper to hollow it out(挖空)with knife and tweezers.
② Use toothpicks to fix the carrots. Stick(戳)toothpicks in smaller carrot top and sit it over bowl with cut end in water. Stick toothpicks in larger carrot top. Sit it on a glass and pour water in hollow center.
③ For two weeks,keep water in bowl so it touches small carrot top;also keep large carrot top’s hollow center filled with water.
