DIY is a hobby. Many of us are interested in it. But sometimes, it's kind of dangerous. The story happened about 5 months ago. We have a beach house at Kawhia and we wanted to cut the trees near the road to stop them from falling and to keep safe. We didn't ask a professional (专业人员) to do the job. My husband (丈夫) decided to take the job with a German (德国的) friend of his. They went there at the weekend to do the job. Before they started to cut the trees, they thought that they would like a little drink of beer (啤酒).
After drinking, the German climbed the ladder (梯子) to cut some branches (树枝) while my husband waited on the ground to guide and stop branches landing on the road. They made a mistake. They cut a branch and let it fall on a powerline (电线). The line broke down and was flashing (闪光) around. My husband felt afraid and the German shouted in German.
These powerlines were the ones that ran into the Kawhia Town, so it cut off the power for four hours before workers repaired them. We had to pay 800 for calling out for help. It is a lesson that sometimes it is better to ask for help from the professionals instead of DIY.
