Ⅱ. Read and complete the tasks.
During an art show in a beautiful town, some paintings by a young girl named Li Na caught everyone’s attention. These paintings were full of imagination. But nobody knew that behind these pictures was an experience of recovering from great pain.
Li Na was a cheerful girl. She loved dancing and had a dream of becoming a great dancer. However, a serious accident during a flood broke her dream. Her legs got seriously hurt. The physical and mental(心理上的) pain made Li Na lose hope for life.
It was Li Na’s parents who encouraged her to try painting. At first, she didn’t like to. But with their support, she tried and later something magical started to happen. Li Na began to show her feelings by drawing. Slowly, she found a new way to express herself.
Two years later, Li Na decided to hold a show about her works. To her surprise, people were deeply moved by her paintings. Li Na not only received praise but also inspired(激励) many others with similar trouble.
Now, Li Na shares her story on social media. She communicates with other people and encourages them to find their own ways of recovering. She was even invited to hold a solo(个人的) exhibition. “It’s an honour for me,” she said. “But more importantly, I hope my paintings can show people the power of hope.”
Trouble might bring lots of pain, but if we face it with courage, we can survive and become stronger. As Vincent van Gogh once said, “The best way to know life is to love many things.”
