2026年作业本浙江教育出版社八年级英语上册外研版第63页答案
Ⅲ. Read and complete the tasks.
China has built a special weather research centre in Wuhan to better deal with dangerous rainstorms. The centre started working last month and will use new technology to study heavy rains and help protect people.
Last year, China had less rain, but there were still 35 bad storms in different areas. Some of the worst floods happened in northern China and near big rivers like the Yellow River. These storms destroyed homes and even hurt people. The new centre will not only try to predict(预测) heavy rains more correctly but also warn people earlier before storms come. What’s more, it will help manage water better to prevent floods.
Scientists chose Wuhan for this centre because it’s in a special place between north and south China. This area gets all kinds of wild weather like heavy rain, strong wind and hail. The land has many rivers and mountains, which makes it perfect for studying storms.
The researchers will work with weather experts from China and other countries. Their work should help in many ways: giving people more time to get ready for coming storms, making dams and reservoirs safer during floods, reducing damage when big storms hit. The centre’s work is especially important now because climate change is making weather more extreme(极端的). The research will help protect important projects like the South-to-North Water Transfer Project and keep people living near big rivers safe.
