Kara’s neighbourhood was full of many children her age. She knew everyone in the neighbourhood and how talented (有才能的) they were.
She could hear Joanne play the guitar every afternoon when she got home from school. And she could hear Tommy practise the piano for
hours at a time. And Sylvia had a great singing voice.
“There is so much talent and I hope everyone can get a chance to show themselves,” Kara said hopefully. “Why don’t you set up a talent show?” her mother said. “So the kids can show themselves.”
“Great,” Kara said. Then she started to do it. To attract more people, Kara made beautiful posters and put them up around her neighbourhood. Soon, everyone was talking about what they were going to do in the show.
Kara was happy because everyone wanted to be in her talent show. Then she felt a little sad. “I wish I had a talent and I could be in the show too,” she said.
Her mother said, “I think you will find something about yourself at the end of the day.”
Kara went to the park and set up a stage(舞台) for the performers. Everyone brought chairs to sit on. Soon Kara’s friends started to show themselves. People cheered loudly. When it was over, everyone told Kara how wonderful her talent show was.
“What a success your show was! I think we have found your talent,” said Kara’s mother. And Kara was also proud(骄傲的) of herself.
