How many times have you got some money, and then realized later you want to buy something special but all your money has gone? The only way to stop this from happening is planning. Let's see how we can save money.
Starting to save can be as simple as having three places to keep money; these can be different bank accounts or even boxes in a drawer.
“Divide your money into spending, saving and giving,” says a bank manager. “Work out the percentage for each to help you understand your money's different uses. 10 per cent should go to saving, 10 per cent to giving (buying gifts for others, etc.) and the rest to spending.”
Be sure to set some goals for saving money. Write down the things you need and the things you want. Need school clothes but want the newest computer game, do you? Talk with your parents about what they'll help you buy, and then save up for the rest.
“If you are saving for something big, work out how many weeks it will take you to make enough money to buy it,” advises a radio host. “When you save enough money, why not buy something you want? You will feel so good when you work hard and buy things with your own money.”
If you spend your savings buying an expensive thing, perhaps, you won't save enough money in the end. When this happens, don't give up. Learn from your mistakes and do better next time.
