Long long ago, during the Qing Dynasty, a minister(大臣) named Zhang Ying got a letter from his family back in his hometown of Tongcheng. From the letter, Zhang learned that there was something unhappy between his family and their neighbour Wu. It was about the boundary(边界) between their walls. Both the families were powerful(有 影 响 力 的) in Tongcheng. Neither wanted to give in(让步). Zhang’s family hoped he could use his power to give them a hand. However, Zhang wrote back with a poem.

More than 300 years later in China, the story of Liu Chi Xiang still tells us that kindness and tolerance(宽容) can take away walls between people and between families.
