My friend Sun Liang is a university student. Last
summer holiday, he went to Germany and stayed there for

two months. "How did you get so much money, Sun
Liang?" I asked. "I got a job in Germany." "What did you
do there?" "I gave Chinese lessons to a shop owner. He
gave me a room, three meals a day and some money."
"But you aren't a teacher." "He knew I wasn't a teacher, but he wanted to learn
Chinese. I talked with him two hours a day. Sometimes I helped him cook meals. I
didn't have to work on weekends. I often took a trip on weekends." "Did he learn
