[2026云南期中]Chen Ning Yang was a great Chinese physicist. He was born in Hefei, China in 1922. When he was young, he was very good at science and maths. During his teenage years, he went to study in National Southwestern Associated University, a famous university in China at that time, to study physics. He went to this university during the war and laid a solid foundation (坚实的基础) for his future scientific research.
In 1945, he went to the United States to study more. He got his PhD there. In the 1950s, he worked with another physicist named Tsung-Dao Lee. They did very important work on how tiny particles (粒子) behave. This work helped them win the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1957, making them the first two Chinese to win a Nobel Prize in Physics. Yang was always patriotic because he deeply loved his home country. After he stopped working in the US, he came back to China. He became a teacher at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He spent a lot of time helping Chinese students and making physics better in China.
Chen Ning Yang passed away in Beijing on 18 October, 2025. His celebrity biography (名人传记) records his life and achievements, and people all over the world will remember him for his great work in physics.
