Think about someone you admire. You will probably find that their success didn't come easily. As the "Father of Hybrid Rice", Yuan Longping got over great difficulties and spent his whole life working to reduce hunger.
Called the "Father of Chinese Hepatobiliary Surgery", Dr Wu Mengchao saved lives for almost 80 years, performing over 16,000 surgeries with such dedication that it even changed the shape of his fingers. He truly loved his work.
In 1969, in order to find a cure for malaria, Tu Youyou took on the job as head of a research team. They did many experiments, but it was challenging. Instead of giving up, they kept trying and finally succeeded in 1972. She won a Nobel Prize in 2015 for her work.
Thomas Edison, who invented the light bulb, believed that mistakes were important. He said, "If I find 10,000 ways something won't work, it's not failure. It means I'm closer to success!"
Even if success doesn't come right away, it can still happen. Not like Pablo Picasso who became famous and rich during his lifetime, Vincent Willem van Gogh only sold one painting while he was alive. But he never stopped creating and he painted more than 2,000 artworks. Now, his paintings are very popular and he is remembered by people.
One thing all these people have in common is sticking to their goals, no matter what happens.
