Decide to Do Well
Everybody makes decisions daily. They can range from crucial (关键性的) future-related choices to simple ones like breakfast. Any decision might be a life turning point.
In Grade 9, I made a big decision. Before that, I tried too hard to act adult-like, not realising it was a kid's trait. Ignoring parents and teachers, my grades dropped. Then came the high school entrance exam.
At this life crossroads, my mum wanted a talk. I almost refused but her eyes stopped me. Surprisingly, instead of urging me to study, she asked about my future plans. I instinctively(本能地) said I'd study hard. She smiled and repeated the question.
I was speechless, never pondering(沉思) it seriously. Mum said, "Your study is your call(决定). Your life is yours, not others', not even mine." Tears filled her eyes.
For the first time, I was asked to decide. I sat, reflecting on myself, life, and my ideal self. After much thought, I decided to be a world-changer, which required hard work.
My future path became clear. I quit rebelling(反抗) and studied passionately. Now 17, I'm in one of the city's best schools and among the best students. Thanks to that decision, I'm who I am today.
