B(真题·宁波鄞州)
“Two eggs, two cups of mix, and one cup of milk,” Bailey thought as she began collecting the ingredients. She planned the whole day and wanted it to be the best Mother’s Day ever.
Suddenly, Colton, her little brother, bumped into her by accident. All the eggs dropped and broke. Colton felt sad, so Bailey gave him a hug. “It’s okay,” she said. “It was an accident.”
Just then, Bailey’s mum came into the kitchen. “What happened?” she asked. “I was going to make you a pancake, but all of the eggs cracked,” replied Bailey. “However, I made you something else!”
Bailey ran to the bedroom, where she kept her backpack. In class, Mrs Thorton had given the students time to make special Mother’s Day cards. Bailey’s card was perfect. She opened her bag but couldn’t find it. “Never mind,” Bailey whispered, “I left my gift for you at school.”
“That’s okay,” Mum said. “We still have a whole day of fun together. ” That made Bailey think of her next surprise, and she ran to the closet(储藏室) where the family beach bag was hidden. She packed it with towels, sunscreen, water bottles, and snacks. “I think we should go to the beach. I have everything ready!” suggested Bailey.
” smiled her mum, and they began to prepare. When they were all ready, Bailey and her mum began taking the big beach bag to the front door. Colton opened the door just in time for the whole family to see a giant bolt of lightning(闪电) flash across the sky. Bailey cried, “I wanted your day to be perfect, but everything is ruined(破坏)!”
“Do you want to know what is a perfect day for me?” asked her mum. “Any day spent with my two favourite people. ” Bailey’s smile grew larger across her face. “But what will we do today?” “Hmmm ... I have an idea!” shouted Colton. “You two go hide, and I will count to ten!”
Mum and Bailey looked at each other for just a second. Then they both ran to different sides of the room. “One, two, three ...” Colton covered his eyes and began counting.

C(真题·嘉兴)
Some dogs have so many toys that it can be quite difficult for their owners to remember them. So it might surprise you that, according to new research, some of our four-legged friends have the ability to remember the names of their toys, even those they haven't seen for a long time.
The new study included five dogs that had taken part in research two years before. The dogs were taught the names of 12 toys, then after one month, researchers tested them to see if they could remember the names. The owners then put the toys away for two years.
In the new study, each owner took the toys out of the hiding place and put them on the floor with a collection of other toys. The owners said the names of the toys and asked the dogs to get them. The researchers watched with cameras. On average(平均来说), the dogs made correct toy choices 44% of the time. Some of the dogs had a success rate of up to 60%. If the dogs had been totally unable to remember the names of their toys, they'd have been expected to make the correct choices 20.4% of the time.
The study showed the dogs were keeping the names of their toys in their long-term memory(记忆). However, the research team found that not all dogs can learn the names of the toys, and why some can and others can't isn't clear.
