Shirley's collie, Hatt, was a great herding dog. Hatt's job was to run out to the field and make the sheep get together every morning and evening. Hatt nudged the sheep to get them move.
One evening Hatt ran to Shirley, barking wildly and running in circles. Shirley put on her coat and ran after the dog. Hatt led Shirley out to the field. She saw all the sheep stopped. Shirley followed Hatt to the edge of a deep hole. “Now I see what’s wrong,” Shirley said. She slid down(往下滑) into the hole next to a little sheep. It couldn’t get out of the deep hole. “Good job, Hatt,” she said. Shirley carried the little sheep out of the hole. Shirley put the little sheep back. Then all the sheep started to move, and Hatt ran after them along. What a clever dog!
