There was a poor cobbler(修鞋匠) called Mike. His shop was next to a restaurant. At lunchtime, Mike would go out to eat his bread while he enjoyed smelling the food from the restaurant.
One morning, he was surprised to get a letter from the restaurant. The manager(经理) asked him to pay(付费) for the enjoyment of food.
He went straight to the restaurant and said he'd never bought anything from it.
The manager said, "Every day, you come and sit outside our kitchen and smell our food. The smell of our food makes your poor food better, so you should pay."
The cobbler didn't say anything. He put his hand in his pocket and rattled the coins(使硬币发出响声) inside it. And then he said with a big smile on his face, "I'm now paying for the smell of your food with the sound of my money."
