The Greatest Chinese Writer of the 20th Century
Lu Xun
(Sept. 25th, 1881—Oct. 19th, 1936)
Lu Xun is a great Chinese writer. He wrote lots of stories. And he also wrote articles about Chinese people.
Lu Xun was born in a rich family in 1881. He had a happy childhood. In 1893, his father was ill. And the family met a lot of difficulties. These early experiences influenced his writing greatly.
In 1899, Lu Xun went to Nanjing to study at a university. In 1902, he studied in Japan. There, he began to write articles and many books. He went back to China in 1909.
He was a teacher in Beijing. After working for many years, Lu Xun wrote articles again. In 1918, he wrote a short story Diary of a Madman. It was the first Chinese novel in everyday language. It helped the novel have a great success. This, together with his novel The True Story of Ah Q, made Lu Xun a great Chinese writer.
Today, you can see many of his writings in school books.
