Three brothers named Andy, Ben and Fred all share the housework. Every
weekend, they will draw straws to see who has to do what.
Andy draws first this weekend. He needs to clean the garage and clear away
the rubbish. Ben has to mow the lawn and do the dishes. He is unhappy, because
they are the longest jobs. Fred gets the jobs of sweeping the floor and washing the
clothes.
"Anyone wants to trade for lawn mowing?" Ben asks hopefully. "I'll take that if
you do both of mine," Andy says. But that sounds unfair. It will leave Ben with
three jobs and him with one. Ben thinks about it and shakes his head. "No, but I
would trade dishes for garage." "Deal!" Both are happy. Andy doesn't like garage,
and Ben wants both of his jobs to be outside the house.
Fred starts his jobs early. He starts to clean the floor while his brothers are
discussing. He smiles at them and puts on his earphones. He likes to listen to
music while doing the housework.
So the boys work hard and in the end, they all finish at the same time. Then,
they clean themselves up and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
