Do you like cooking? Recently, a 10-year-old girl called Sun Jiarui got tons of attention online for her amazing cooking skills.
Sun Jiarui’s father is the cook and owner of a restaurant in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. Sun Jiarui started helping out with housework when she was around 4 or 5. When she was 8, she asked her father to teach her to cook after school. Now she can cook more than 50 dishes, which is not easy—even for an adult. “It’s beneficial for her to grasp some life skills so that she can better look after herself when she grows up,” says Sun Jiarui’s father.
Her school has also set up a new cooking course for her. And Jiarui is a teacher in the cooking class. She teaches other students to make simple dishes there. “It was out of curiosity(好奇) at first, but finally, I enjoyed cooking. I hope that the course will help us to learn basic life skills. Then we can share housework with our parents,” says Jiarui.
Her school is not the only one to open a cooking course in China. Actually, in September last year, primary and middle school students in China found a new “practical activities” course in their school timetable, with at least one class every week. The new course has three kinds of tasks: everyday chores, productive labor(生产劳动) and volunteer work. Quite a lot of people welcome such courses.
