On April 19th, there was a half marathon(马拉松) in Beijing, China. About 12,000 runners took part in it. 21 man-like robots also joined the same race. It was the first race of its kind.

There were robot races in the past, but not this long. A half marathon is 21 km long. It is a good way to see how the robots worked under real-life conditions(条件). So the goal of the race wasn't to win, it was to finish. And six of the robots met that goal.
The robots in the race were in different sizes. The largest, called "Tiangong Ultra" was 180 cm tall. The smallest, called "Little Giant" was just 75 cm tall. To join the race, the robots had to run on two feet, like humans.
As with human runners, low(低的) energy was a problem for the robots too. Tiangong fell once because of low energy. The same thing happened to other robots too.
The biggest problem was probably overheating. It was cool in the morning, but as the temperature climbed, workers had to help cool the robots. Once, Little Giant had smoke coming out of its head.
The first robot to run across the finish line was Tiangong. It finished the race in 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds. That was far behind most human runners. But the race was great, even for the robots who didn't finish. They will help robot scientists make better human-like robots in the future.

On a sunny Saturday in late February, Rohan took children's books out of 10 boxes. He was at the Beehive, a place in Los Angeles,
California, with his family. People from everywhere are sending books to Rohan because he started Reading Among Ruins. It is a project to give away the books to the children in need.
Just weeks earlier, wildfires(野火) swept through Los Angeles. More than 16, 000 buildings were destroyed(摧毁). Rohan and his family lost their home in the wildfire. Rohan's favourite books were also destroyed. "I was heartbroken," he told *Time for Kids*. "Then I thought other people and kids surely felt so sad about losing their books too."
That got him to start to do something. "I wanted to help," he says. Now, he is trying hard to give books to the kids who lost their books in the fires. Veeren is 10. He got books from Rohan. He says he learned a powerful lesson. "When you are in trouble," Veeren says, "people will be there for you."
