Tigers are the largest of all the big cats. There may have been 100,000 tigers at the beginning of the 20th century. By 2010 there were as few as 3,200.
Why are tigers in danger? Many tigers live in habitats(栖息地) with trees and grass. They can hide in the grass. People cut down trees to build new houses and farms. Without the habitats, tigers have nowhere to hide. Tigers need grass to hide themselves so that they can hunt deer and other prey(猎物).
