Joy's uncle, Mark, lives in the countryside(乡下), and he has a big yard! There are kinds of fruits and vegetables in it.
On a sunny autumn day, Joy went there with her parents. She saw apples, oranges, tomatoes and cucumbers in the yard. She took many pictures and found some beautiful plants with small green leaves. "What are they?" she wondered.
She picked up a small leaf, and put it into her mouth. "Yuk! That is too strange."
Uncle Mark looked at her and laughed. "Joy, my dear, we don't eat those leaves."
"Why not?" asked Joy. "I can't see anything else."
"We eat the fruits. Look! Over there!" Uncle pointed to the root of the plant.
Then Uncle invited Joy to pull it out. With much effort, she pulled the plant. She was already out of breath when she made it. Looking at the plant, she cheered, "Wow! So many peanuts(花生) here!"
Joy pulled out some more plants and lined them up. Each one had lots of peanuts on the roots. Then she sat at the table with her parents to peel(剥去) and wash. The peanuts were so fresh. Joy couldn't wait for a taste.

Joy loved the peanuts so much. An idea hit her. "Uncle," she said. "Can I plant the peanuts together with you next year?"
"Of course," Uncle smiled.
