Competition is at the center of sports. Let's have a look at soccer. It's the most popular sport in the world. Without competition, no one would watch. If people aren't competing, it's just exercise. And it's boring to watch.

Sports don't need competition. I love winter sports and I never compete. You can take lessons and be better at them. Competition may make a sport more interesting to watch, but it isn't necessary for enjoying it.
