Learning Old Characters
Schools in Anyang, Henan Province, are bringing oracle bone script(甲骨文) to life for young students through a number of activities. At Feixiang Middle School, students wear traditional hanfu and practise “oracle bone gymnastics(体操)” on the playground. Each move shows an ancient character(汉字), such as stretching their arms to show “walk” or moving their fingers to form “dance”. In the classroom, students work on writing oracle bone script and making rubbings(拓本). Everyone has learnt a lot from these events.
Giving Trees Warmth
At Jinghe Middle School, Zhejiang Province, students organized a special activity to help trees stay warm in winter. With tools and felt in hand, they got together around the trees at school. Some measured(测量) the trees to cut the felt to the right size, while others tied(绑) it around the trees, like putting warm sweaters on them. As they worked, students shared the ideas and cheered each other on, making the activity both exciting and fun.
A very interesting event, called Treasure Hunt Festival, recently has taken the No. 101 school by storm. When the activity started last Saturday, the playground was turned into a crowded market. Students collected things they no longer needed, such as used books and toys, from homes. Then they carefully priced and labeled(贴标签) them, introducing their products warmly to trade(交易). Through this process, everyone not only learnt how to talk with others but also had a better understanding of the value of things.
