Hansel and Gretel were a poor brother and sister. They lived with their father and stepmother(继母) near a big forest. One night, the stepmother said, “We have no more food. Take the children into the forest and leave them there!”
Hansel heard this. He told Gretel, “Don’t worry. I have a plan.” That night, he picked up small white stones(石头) and put them in his pocket.
The next day, their father took them into the forest. As they walked, Hansel dropped the stones. After their father left, Gretel cried, “Hansel, how do we get home?”
“Follow the stones,” Hansel said. The stones shone in the moonlight, and they walked home safely.

Cretel ran to free Hansel. They found gold in the witch’s house and went home.
