I've always enjoyed riding my bicycle, but I have never gone far—only a few miles around my home. While working on the Cycling Merit Badge(荣誉勋章), I discovered how much I liked riding long distances(距离). The task of riding 22-mile trails wasn't enough for me. I wanted more. I looked for long-distance bike trails and found some close to home. At the same time, I learned about bike-packing. It combines(结合) biking and backpacking, and people often spend many days on the bike trail by themselves.
I set out on my first bike-packing trip with my father. We put the things we needed on our bikes. We started in the Pocono Mountains and ended 156 miles in Bristol, Pa., four days later. We had a hard time with rain and cold weather along the way. But it was one of the best experiences(经历) of my life.
Four months later, we went on another bike trip. The weather was much better for this ride. We stopped in towns along the trail and we met many friendly bikers. I love this sport because of the fun rides with Dad and the Cycling Merit Badge!
