Sarah often helped at her dad's new restaurant. One day, as she carried a pork steak to one of the customers, she froze—her classmate Kassy, with a group of friends, sat at a table.
Feeling nervous, Sarah hid behind the front desk. She was afraid that Kassy and other classmates would laugh at her for working there. Her dad noticed it and gently suggested she take a break.
Back in the kitchen, Sarah's guilt(内疚) grew. Just at that time, Kassy came over and saw Sarah. "Oh, Sarah! You are here?" Knowing nowhere to hide, Sarah smiled with embarrassment(尴尬) and said, "This is my dad's restaurant. Do you ... like the food?"

Sarah watched her father carefully preparing dishes in the kitchen. A warm pride filled her heart. "He puts his heart into every dish," she found herself saying. "I used to be embarrassed working here, but now ..." this time she raised her voice, "I'm proud of my father and our restaurant."
To her surprise, Kassy nodded, "You should be! This place is awesome."
As Kassy returned to the friends, Sarah realised something important: True courage wasn't about fitting in(适应)—it was about being proud of who you were and where you came from.
